Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma has led the midsize pickup segment for decades, and its current generation was rebuilt from the ground up on Toyota's TNGA-F truck platform. Two powertrains are available: a gas i-FORCE 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder tuned for maximum towing, and an i-FORCE MAX hybrid version that adds up to 326 horsepower and stronger low-end torque at a modest towing tradeoff. Properly equipped, the Tacoma tows up to 6,500 pounds and carries a payload of over 1,700 pounds. Buyers can choose between a five-door Double Cab or an extended XtraCab, each available with a 5-foot or 6-foot bed, and the trim range runs from the work-focused SR up through off-road-oriented TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Trailhunter grades. Standard models ride on a 131.9-inch wheelbase, while the off-road-focused Trailhunter stretches to 145.1 inches with its available 6-foot bed, and every bed uses an aluminum-reinforced Sheet-Molded Composite surface built for heavy daily use.
